About Daniel
I’ve spent nearly my entire life in Minnesota and I know what an amazing place we all have the opportunity to call home. My wife and I live in Edina with our three beautiful daughters, and we are instilling in them the same dedication to kindness, inclusivity, hard work, and optimism we see all over our community.
I’m honored to be running to be your County Commissioner. I’ve spent my career working on behalf of communities around the country from Kansas City, Chicago, and right here in the Twin Cities.
After college, I knew I wanted to work on behalf of something bigger than myself so I dedicated my career to nonprofit work. I’ve worked for nonprofits in youth development, education, financial services, and economic development.
I began my career working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kansas City and know what a critical role shared community spaces play for our youth. This and other experiences led me to being asked to scale an existing nonprofit model, successfully deployed in the Twin Cities, into a new community in Chicago. Through all of these I learned about and was able to find meaning in service of others and see models of organizations and methods that will help the next generation succeed and thrive.
In the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked directly with business owners in Minnesota and around the country to support them with PPP loans. I subsequently worked in public/private partnerships and helped deploy millions of dollars to small businesses across the country including the Minnesota Inclusive Growth Fund right here in our own community. 90% of these loans have gone to businesses with 10 or fewer employees and less than $1 million in revenue.
These experiences have fostered a belief in the power of collective action and public service to impact the lives of our neighbors. I want to bring this same dedication to community impact and focus on improving people’s lives in our work together in Hennepin County.
